'Low carbon pan-London Study'

MTW has been commissioned by the Centre of Innovation & Partnerships at Newham College, as part of their Skills for Climate Change programme, to carry out a study on the extent to which local authorities in London are supporting their low carbon sector economies through their procurement activity.
We will be carrying out a survey of all 33 local authorities as well as major public sector procuring authorities like the GLA . We will be reviewing their procurement of low carbon goods and services in for example:-
- Housing – new build / refurbishment / retrofit programmes
- Waste & Recycling
- Building services and Energy management
We will be doing some case studies of best practice where public sector procurement for low carbon goods and services has resulted in local benefit – employment, inclusion and enterprise. The report will be disseminated to all councils in the form of a toolkit.
