MTW was commissioned by the Institute of Sustainability to research and draw up a Local Procurement Toolkit for the RE: Start Local programme in the South East of England covering 6 counties and sub-regions and containing over 50 local authorities. This programme was aimed at supporting local SMEs into winning contracts from renewable energy and low carbon building retrofit opportunities across the South East. MTW assessed both public sector and private sector supply chain policies and prepared an online interactive and practical set of tools for both buyers and suppliers to use best practice mechanisms for channelling more local procurement toward local SMEs.
